Under Pressure-The solution to tyre problems

National Highways report that 20% of all vehicle breakdowns and around 3,600 accidents are related to tyres with low pressure or are flat. So when you consider that driving with under-inflated tyres makes your braking distance longer and your vehicle harder to steer, it’s no surprise that the severity of these accidents will naturally increase if the vehicle involved is a HGV.

Whilst fleet operators must ensure their vehicles are safe and compliant at all times, checking the tyre pressure on a fleet of assets takes up a lot of time, and downtime for fleet operators costs money. This why many transport operators now use TPMS by Axscend which uses sensors to continually monitor the tyre pressures of the assets in their fleet.

TPMS sends alerts if the pressure in any trailer tyre drops below a pre-defined threshold. When it shows green tyres are OK, amber indicates there’s an issue to check, and red which is critical and requires immediate attention.

Being aware of tyre pressure problems before they become serious allows you to take action quickly before it results in downtime or risks the safety of the driver and other road users.

Driving with incorrect tyre pressure uses more fuel, shortens the lifespan of your tyres and more importantly, puts the driver and other road users at risk.

TPMS by Axscend can save you thousands of pounds in fuel and breakdown costs. As an investment in your trailer fleet, effective tyre pressure monitoring delivers year on year savings, as well as improved efficiency and safety.
